Election Readiness
The Liberal Party of Canada is strong and
united under the Leadership of Michael Ignatieff. Our party is surging
ahead in the polls and you can feel the momentum sweeping across the
land.
Saanich-Gulf Islands is poised to ensure we will win the
next federal election for the Liberal Party of Canada. We have the
organization, the experience and the resources to make this happen. In
accordance with our obligations we have initiated our Nomination
Contestant search to name the best Candidate to represent the riding.
If
you’d like to join Michael Ignatieff in building a strong, united
Canada – or if you know someone who would be an inspiration to citizens
in Saanich Gulf Islands– please let us know.
Our
candidate will be a Canadian citizen, 18 years of age or older, and
will possess most of the following qualities, experience and skills:

- Recognized experience and success in politics, business, government, non-governmental organizations or the professions;
- A
reasonable knowledge of the social, political, environmental, cultural
and economic issues facing Saanich-Gulf Islands, the Liberal Party of
Canada, and Canada;
- The
ability to communicate clearly, particularly to explain why the
candidate should be nominated and why the candidate should be elected
as a Member of Parliament;
- Good name recognition in Saanich-Gulf Islands;
- Backing from a team of active supporters capable of winning both a nomination and an election campaign;
- Enjoyment
of the rough and tumble of nomination and election campaigns, including
an ability to work hard meeting as many constituents as possible using
all tested, effective processes ;
- Ability to build and work as an integral part of an effective campaign team;
- Support from family and significant others;
- Fluent in English and French - fluency in other languages would be regarded as a significant asset.
